Launch of the Colonial Sail and Power Squadron

The idea of establishing a Squadron in the Williamsburg area originated during the later part of 2006, when some inactive and former Squadron members decided to investigate how many potential members were in the area. In accordance with the National by-laws, a new Squadron must be sponsored by an established/chartered Squadron. Hampton Roads Power Squadron, and the Richmond Power Squadron were the closest Squadrons to the area and gave their blessings to the endeavor. Contacts were made to National headquarters for guidelines on establishing a squadron, and Provisional status was granted. The Charter meeting was conducted on October 9, 2008 and the formal application for a Squadron Charter was submitted shortly thereafter. The Charter for the Squadron will be/was awarded at the USPS Annual Meeting.
