Our Burgee

Boating is fun..........We'll show you how!

The Smith Mountain Lake Sail and Power Squadron is a unit of District 5, of United States Power Squadrons®, a worldwide non profit organization dedicated to the promotion of safe boating through education. We are located in Southwestern Virginia, primarily in the counties of Roanoke, Franklin, Bedford and Pittsylvania which border on the beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia’s largest lake with over 500 miles of shoreline, is a haven for both sailors and power boaters alike.

The white star celebrates our heritage, because the squadron was originally named Roanoke Valley Power Squadron, Roanoke being the "Star City of the South". The blue lines represent the Roanoke and Blackwater Rivers which converge and flow into Smith Mountain Lake, while the green background represents the surrounding verdant valleys and mountains.
