Boating is fun..........We'll show you how!

The Cambridge Sail Power Squadron is a unit of United States Power Squadrons (USPS) and a member of District 5 covering the Mid-Atlantic States. Our members are primarily from Dorchester County, the home of the Choptank River, one of the largest rivers in the Chesapeake Bay. The USPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to boating education, civic service and social activities. Please contact our Membership Chariman listed below for membership information.

Membership Benefits

Squadron members are entitled to free education, tax deductions, discounts on boating-oriented products and services, USPS boat insurance, “The Ensign” magazine, “Choptank Currents” electronic newsletter, and many other special programs. Please click here for more benefits from USPS.

Boating Education & classes

We offer many Seminars on Charting and Weather and a Basic Boating Course to the public at several locations around Dorchester County. For Members, there are advanced classes in Seamanship and Piloting, For information about courses, contact our Educational Officer listed below for additional information.

Vessel Examination

The USPS supports the Coast Guard Recreational Boating Safety Program. Squadron members trained as Vessel examiners provide safety checks for interested boat owners. A vessel that successfully meets the Coast Guard recommended standards is awarded the Coast Guard Sticker for that year. To arrange a free vessel safety examination, contact our 'Vessel Safety Check' Chairperson listed below.

Civic Service

Our Squadron is also interested in civic service. Related to boating we do chart updating and public education. We also do some general civic service such as Safe Boating Week, Flare Demonstrations, and working with the local YMCA on youth programs.

Squadron Activities

As we are all interested in boating, we hold many on the water activities and boating rendezvous. Contact our Administrative Officer listed below. We also have a night at the local Delmarva Shorebirds and a fall family picnic. We publish the 'Choptank Currents', an interesting and informative monthly newsletter. Our District also publishes the Mark 5 newsletter. A boat is not necessary for Membership.
